┃ 夏期一斉休業（平成23年8月22日～24日）のお知らせ
┗━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
東日本大震災に伴う電力不足への対応として、理化学研究所では下記の期間、
一斉休業を実施いたすこととなりました（東北地方太平洋沖地震への対応
http://www.riken.jp/r-world/topics/110314/index.html）。バイオリソース
センターにおきましても、期間中を休業日として節電に協力することとし、バイ
オリソースの提供等にかかわる業務を休止させていただきます。
ユーザーの皆様にはご不便をおかけいたしますが、ご理解とご協力の程、何卒
宜しくお願い申し上げます。
1. 一斉休業の期間： 平成23年8月22日（月）より24日（水）の3日間
2. 停止する業務
・ 電話、メールでのお問合せへの対応
・ 期間中に受領したリソースの提供申込みへの対応
・ リソースの発送
・ 見積り書、請求書等の発送
尚、8月19日（金）まで、また8月25日（木）からは通常通り業務を行います。

┃ 今月のリソース紹介「Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans関連細菌の
┃ 鉄酸化に関わる遺伝子の多様性」
┗━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
代表的な鉄酸化細菌である Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans や A. ferrivorans
は、かつては1つの種（A. ferrooxidans）に含まれていたグループですが、第一鉄酸化
過程に関わるタンパク質を含む表現型の多様性に興味がもたれています。著者らはリボ
ゾーム遺伝子に加えて、atpD などのハウスキーピング遺伝子、および鉄代謝に関わる
HiPIPs というタンパク質の hip/iro ならびに rusA/B 遺伝子に基づく系統解析を行い、
供試株が4つのグループ (I, II, III,IV) に分かれることを示しました。グループ I と
II の株は rusA と hip を、一方、グループ III と IV の株は rusB と iro を有して
いることから、2つの全く異なる鉄酸化経路が A. ferrooxidansグ ループに存在したと
報告しています。

Fe(II)-oxidizing acidithiobacilli supports the view that these comprise
multiple species with different ferrous iron oxidation pathways.

本論文で使われているJCM株：
Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans JCM 3865、JCM 7811、JCM 7812。尚、本論文
中で JCM 7811 には2つの異なる系統の株が含まれていたと述べられています。
このうち JCM 7811-P1 は JCM 17309 として公開しています。
また、論文で使用されている Acidithiobacillus ferrivorans DSM 22755 は JCM
にも寄託されており、JCM 15606 (Type strain) として公開しています。

東日本大震災の被災地の研究者の復興支援として、理化学研究所バイオリソー
スセンターでは、当センターが提供したバイオリソースの中で、震災で利用不可
能となったバイオリソースを無償にて再提供いたします。また、震災の影響のあ
った大学、研究機関、企業などで、当センターが保有するリソースをご希望の方
は 別途ご相談ください。
対象： 震災の直接的な影響のあった地域にある大学、研究機関等。具体的に
は政府が指定する災害指定地域（災害救助法適用地区、但し帰宅困難で指定さ
れた東京都は除く）にある大学、研究機関等
