Announcement of Revision to Distribution Fees
+---------------------------------------------------------------------
In response to rising labor and material costs, and in order to
maintain a sustainable bioresource distribution system, we have
revised our Distribution fees.
The revised fees will apply to requests received on or after
April 1, 2026.
We understand that this change may cause inconvenience, and we
sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
The main changes introduced in this revision are outlined below.
- Key Changes
1. Revision of Distribution Fees
We are a non-profit organization supported by public funding from the
Japanese government. Previously, the same fee structure was applied to
both domestic and international users. Under this revision, however,
the Distribution fees for overseas users have been reviewed and adjusted.
2. Introduction of a Handling Fee
A Handling fee has been newly established to cover the cost of
packaging materials and administrative procedures associated with the
international shipment of microbial strains.
The amount of the Handling fee varies depending on the resource type
(Delivery category), biosafety level, and shipping method (carrier).
The Handling fee is charged per shipment. Even if multiple microbial
strains are requested, only one Handling fee will be charged if all
items can be shipped together in a single shipment.
However, if separate shipments are required (e.g., when multiple
cultured microbial strains are requested), the Handling fee will be
charged for each shipment.
Please note that, in addition to the Handling fee, actual shipping
costs (freight charges) will be billed separately for each shipment.
3. Revision of the Bulk Discount System
The bulk discount has been revised: a 10% discount on Distribution
fees will be applied only when 20 or more microbial strains in
Delivery category A are ordered at one time.
Distribution fees for non-Category A resources, Handling fees, and
shipping costs are not eligible for this discount.
- Fee Information and Quotations
Please refer to the following page for details of the revised fee
structure:

An Excel file is available on this page to calculate an estimated cost
based on your specific request.
The costs calculated using this file are estimates based on the
assumption that all items will be shipped in a single shipment.
If you require a precise quotation, including confirmation of whether
the shipment will be divided, please contact us by email with the
completed Form M-10 (ORDER FORM).
